email subject line

Email marketing is one of the best ways that you can reach customers and potential customers. But this is only true when you are careful when writing your email subject line. Below are three tips that  you can use to write email subject lines that are going to help ensure more people open and read your emails.

Keep Your Email Subject Line Short

Since a lot of people who are going to receive the email will read it on a phone or tablet, shorter lines are better. The best will be 40 characters long or shorter. This is going to increase the chance that they are going to read the whole subject line even on their smartphone.

Avoid Spam Filters in Your Email Subject Line

The last thing that you want to do is to spend lots of time writing and sending emails and then have the emails you wrote to go into your recipients’ spam folder. So, you want to avoid using things that will trigger spam such as cash, free, winter, deal, and limited-time offer.  Otherwise, you are going to have your emails winding up in the spam folders.

You also don’t want to use lots of exclamation points and all caps.

Be Honest in the Email Subject Line

It’s important for your subject line to intrigue the readers so that they open up your email. But at the same time, you don’t want to overpromise or disappoint the reader.

For instance, if you write a subject line that says that you have a new item available, but your email says that it’s coming soon, that is not being very honest with your reader. You are going to tell your customers that you’re not to be trusted.

Keep in mind that there are real people who are receiving your emails. They’re trusting you by giving an email address to you. So you want to make sure that you are overdelivering the value that is in each of the emails that you are sending. Your open rates are going to increase.

These are three tips that you can use when you are writing your email subject line. If you are struggling with your email marketing and you are looking for someone to help you with writing emails, contact us here for a quote. You also can contact us through Facebook.
