This week I have been writing a lot about blogs and how they can help your business. Today, to round out the week, I want to give you some tips on coming up with blog topics. This is often one of the most difficult things when it comes to blogging.

Create Interesting Day Blog Topics

This is something that I have used in one of our clients’ blogs. For instance, Monday was National Garlic Day. So I wrote a blog for a landscape company about growing and harvesting garlic that I thought the readers would enjoy. Until I did the research, I didn’t even know that such a day existed. Since many people are planting their gardens, I thought it would interesting and educational. So, depending on your business you can take inspiration by looking up interesting days on the calendar.

Think of Short Topics for Blogs

One thing about a blog is that it’s not intended to be very long. If you have noticed, most of my blogs are 500 words or so. There could be some that are longer, but a blog is meant to be short and to the point. The reason for this is that most people who read your blog don’t have a lot of time. So, you want to keep it brief.

Think About Helpful Blog Topics

Do you have people who are asking you questions? If a particular question comes up a lot in your business, that’s a great topic to cover on your blog. Not only will it give your readers helpful information, but it’s also going to bring more people to your website and possibly give you more business.

It’s also important to make some blog topics that are specific to your area as well as blog topics that are evergreen. Mention the weather, the specific problems your location faces, etc.

Check Out Your Competition

Finally, check out your competition and see what they are blogging about. This can give you some ideas. Obviously, you want to put your own spin on the topic. But it’s always helpful to see what the other guys are doing.

These are just three tips that you can use to help you find the right blog topics for your business. Although it’s not going to give you all the answers that you need, it will help you get started with finding some ideas.
